Gear Checks: Scott San Diego Gear

They made their name making goggles (which are arguably the best in the world), but over the past decade Scott have been putting in a big effort to expand their range. They’ve now got a complete range of apparel from their futuristic-looking Genius boot to several nylon, jersey and gloves combos that make Mat Rebeaud look the goods.

Freerider tried on a set of their ’08 San Diego gear that we put through the paces at our 250F shoot-out.

When we slide our legs into the nylons, the first thing we noticed was the mesh lining that goes all the way to the bottom, ensuring a silky-smooth fit.

The pre-shaped knees and side waist adjustments guarantee the pants fit snugly. There’s no overdose of logos, so the pants are light and have plenty of movement, so you won’t have any dramas throwing out big indies.

The jersey is made of 100% polyester with mesh inserts to make it light and breathe easily.

We’ve been pounding the ramps and tracks for more than two months now and the gear looks as good as new: it hasn’t ripped, faded and no stitching has come loose.

At the end of the day gear is gear, so the best thing we love about our new Scott stuff is that it’s different and no-one at your track or compound will probably be running it.

Everyone seems to wearing either Fox, Thor or Shift these days, so the Scott gear let’s you stand out from the crowd and gives you a bit of individuality.
