Crazy French brothers, Charles and Thomas Pages, have both landed the Front-flip to dirt! But to make it all the more impressive, both these cats did it with suspension set-ups they'd use in a normal freestyle run!
The footage popped up on YouTube yesterday, ending speculation and rumours that the lads had successfully stomped the revolutionary trick first landed to dirt by Travis Pastrana's rally co-driver Jim De Champ about a month ago.
However, the Pages' approach and execution of the trick is completely different to De Champ. As well as hitting a 66ft gap instead of DC's 45ft gap, it looks like the Frenchmen cork the bike out slightly on take-off to help get the rotation around in time for the landing. How does this help, you ask? Well for starters, the guys wouldn't have to fight the entire gyros of the engine and wheels to bring both wheels back around to terra-firma. By twisting slightly off-axis they can almost USE the gyro effect – and momentum – to complete the trick.
This latest footage has got us fizzing. Suddenly we're looking at another revolution of freestyle, where once one rider has landed a trick, it opens the door up for a whole lot more riders to follow.
And just quietly, how awesome is X Games Best Trick going to be this year! We have both the Pages and De Champ Front-flipping, Kyle Loza's Bike Flip, Cam Sinclair working on some sort of Double Backflip combo, and Adam Jones working on something special, too. Bring on the last weekend of Juy!
