Cam "Sincs" Sinclair Interview

Most of you would have seen the footage we posted this week of Cam 'Sincs' Sinclair dialing in his Double Flips into the foam pit at his compound in Victoria. It's inspirational to think Sincs is even attempting to execute the trick again after nearly losing his life attempting it in a run at the Madrid X-Fighters round less than 8 months ago. We said we'd track the fella down to see where he's at with the trick only a select few riders in the world have executed, and by the sounds of things Sincs is well on the way back to his old self and will be landing the Double to dirt/metal ramp in only a few weeks time. Read on to see what the champion had to say.

Sincs, it's great to see you back working on the Double Flip with renewed confidence. How are you feeling about it: It’s been on mind everyday since my accident. It felt great to finally get them off my back and into the pit. It’s still scary every time I try but I’m getting more and more confident each day.

Talk us through your first Double attempt into the pit since your Madrid accident, what were you feeling: I was shitting myself to be honest, but as soon as i did one and my adrenaline got
pumping I was good to keep going.

No one except for your close friends really know how hard you've worked to reach this stage, DB Flipping again, when did you know it was time to hit it up again: Well it took me some time just to get used to riding and feeling comfortable on the bike again. I worked really hard at it and after most of my normal Flip tricks came back I knew it was time to work on the Double again.

Was it a mind thing, or something you felt right about in your gut: It wasn’t really a mind thing, I don’t get caught up in all that, I just go and get the job done.

When you're practicing the Double are you battling at all in relation to the accident, or do you know exactly what went wrong and its easy to put it out of your mind: I’m all good with it now and don’t really think about the crash, it was just one of those things. I’ve watched the crash a million times now and know where I stuffed up on the one that got me.

When do you think you'll take it to dirt again: I guess I won’t need to try it to dirt until the first Crusty Show on the 20th of March. It’s in Albury, NSW, which is only a three hour drive from my house so it will be good to have all my family and close mates there to witness my first one back.

Are you still thinking whether or not to use the double in runs like at X-Fighters: No I’ll never do it in a timed run again, there is too many other things to think about in a 90-second run. You need to concentrate on that thing so much and you just don’t have the time. I’ll save the Double for Demo’s and Best Trick comps.

What events are you planning to execute the Double Flip at: At the moment I have planned to do them at the Crusty tour and X Games Best Trick. If any other demo’s pop up in other countries I’ll do them too providing it’s safe enough.

Have you got what it takes to win gold at X Games in 2010: I hope so. I know it will take more than a straight Double Flip to win a Gold Medal in Best Trick at X, but I have some things up my sleeve to
add to a Double Flip, hopefully I'll get another invite.

Thanks Cam, you're a braver man than most, good luck for 2010!: Thanks Goba, I’d also like to give a quick thanks to all my family, fans and sponsors for the great support I’ve received. I’m looking forward to a big 2010. Don’t forget to keep checking www.camsinclair.com.au We try to update it daily with everything that’s happening around me. Thanks again, Sincs.
