Red Bull X-Fighters Jam Session

With just over 14 days till the Red Bull X-Fighters finally hits our shores this past weekend the guys from Red Bull put on abit of a pre fixer for what to expect come Sept 17th on Cockatoo Island.
Three of Australia’s best up and coming FMX riders put on a great show for the crowd which had packed the parking lot, pub verandah and also a few quite avid fans managed to climb onto the roof of the pub and prob scored them selves the best seats in the house. Just walking around made you think they had called in every Red Bull chick from the Southern Hemisphere to come walk around the event but I don’t think the boozed up patrons minded too much.

The Riders they had locked in for the demo were Joel Brown, Rasy Hillier, Pat Bowden and Truman Carroll. The terrain of the car park meant the ramp setup had to be uphill which unfortunately proved a tad tricky for amateur Pat Bowden as on his first jump in practice he cased the lander and broke his femur.

trueman_Red_bull_jamAs the crowd started rolling in the boys had their last few practice jumps and then it was show time. They ran the Jam session similar to other demos where the boys had three 10 minute sessions ending the night with a best whip, best flip trick and best upright trick comp. The overall winner would score himself a set of VIP tickets to X-Fighters on Cockatoo Island and the comp was judged by none other Josh Sheehan. Rasy Hillier would eventually take out the win with some massive whips and a massive flip nac and was pumped on scoring the tickets, I think it also lessoned the pain he was feeling after looping out a wheelie and falling flat on his ass on the concrete haha

Some of the standout things of the riding would have to be Metal Mulisha rider Truman Carrolls whips, I’ve never personally seen him ride and was blown away by how much he was throwing the thing backwards off an uphill set up and the crowd was loving it too.

Rasy Hilliers racer whips were incredibly flat but at the end would transform them into a turndown and snap them back around and the extension he gets on his flip nacs is some of the best I’ve seen which I think just reinforces why he’s the current points leader in the RFD underground tour.

Lets not forget this event was a preview of what the worlds best will be doing on Cockatoo Island come Sept 17th, unfortunately if you haven’t secured yourself some tickets the event is now sold out but you can catch it live on 7mate from 3:30pm.
