Sheehan, Moore and Sommey's Indo FMX shows

indo1When the hot, tropical summer in Indonesia couldn’t get any hotter, the new Indonesian Powercross series of supercross racing has announced they are featuring FMX for the first time to blow the top off the event.

And the Indonesian promoters didn’t just want plain old Nac-Nacs and Heelclickers, rather they have hired the services of Australia’s top riders including Narrogin 08 Big Air winner and SuperX Brisbane round winner Josh Sheehan, the new-look Clinton Moore who won Valyside Australian FMX Championships 09 and X-Kings 09 Big Air comps with his 360’s and also Steve Sommerfeld who won the New Zealand Farm Jam competition in 2008.

indo2The Aussie rippers will be riding all five rounds of the Powercross series which begins on December 12 in Malang City and then moves to Semerang City on December 19 before the Christmas break.  Straight after New Years the Powercross series picks back up during the monsoonal rain season with three more rounds starting on January 16, January 23 and finishing in the capital city of Jakarta on January 30th.

Steve Sommerfeld was first asked to perform at the Indonesian Powercross and jumped at the opportunity of riding overseas.

“I haven’t really heard much about the Indonesian motocross industry, but after shooting for the TV ad I actually found the Indonesians are absolutely nuts about freestyle and I can’t wait to go back there and perform for the crowds”.

indo3Sommerfeld was flown to Jakarta in November to film a television advertisement to promote the series throughout Indonesia with SuperX racer Lewis Woods. Woods looks to be the raging hot favourite for the Supercross races and has had a very strong backing from the Indonesian race teams to take the top spot in the 250F division.

Steve Sommerfeld has taken charge and booked two of the best riders in Australia at the moment in Josh Sheehan and Clinton Moore.

“Sheeny and Clinton have been competing against each other for the past month and there’s nothing between them” Steve said.  indo4“They both have huge tricks that rival the world’s best and they’re home grown in Australia. To have these riders together riding in Indonesia during shows is going to be interesting.  The crowds are going to see them ride together and possibly even push each other with friendly rivalry throughout the shows to see who can pip the other for crowd cheers”.

“I am very excited to see the fireworks that these guys produce and the Indonesian audience will be seeing a real treat.”

The Powercross starts next Saturday the 12th of December and there will be live updates on www.stevesommerfeld.com for the Australian fans to keep up with the event
