If you're tossing up whether you should attend the X-Kings in Mackay on October 31, how's this for incentive: if you pass the competency test you get your nomination money – and an extra $50 – back in your pocket!
Nominations to ride are due in by the end of next week, but freestyle manager Lachlan Condon says because they've had such a great support from local businesses and sponsors, they can actually give the $100 nomination free, and an extra $50 back to the riders who successfully undertake the Friday competency jump and can prove you're able to jump 75ft.
"That will definitely make a big difference to the guys who will have to travel a fair distance to get up here," says Lachlan. "If they can prove they can jump so we can cover our bases, we'll put the money back in their wallet."
Organisers have told us that they need all nominations in two weeks before the big event, to give them time to make sure everyone's insurance is up-to-date and send back a confirmation.
"The set-up for X-Kings is more like a motocross event where you have to pre-nominate instead of just rocking up on the day," says Lachlan. "All the planning and organisation for the day is tracking really nicely, but the riders need to know they haven't got much time to get their entries in."
Nomination forms can be obtained through www.xkings.com.au, then must be mailed back to "The Freestyle Manager", 7 Mortensen St, North Mackay, 4740. Organisers must receive entries by Friday October 17.
If for some reason you can't get your nomination form in on time, you can still enter the comp, but you must let Lachlan know on 0419 957 442 ASAP, and you won't have your nomination free refunded
Get cracking, and we'll see you there!
