On 18-19 April more than 150 of Australia’s best Motocross riders will descend on the nation’s capital for the second round of the 2009 Australian Motocross Championship taking their place at the gates on the recently unveiled world class track.
Following four months of hard work and tonnes of dirt, the ACT Motor Cycle Club opened the gates to the new $200,000 Fairburn Park Motocross track last weekend with more than 200 riders taking to the track each day. With Pro riders making the most of the opportunity to test out the new track, feedback has been phenomenal and the second round of the National Championship looks set to be massive.
2008 Australian Pro Open Motocross Champion, Jay Marmont (Yamaha), was impressed with the investment the club has made in the new track and can’t wait to race there at the second round.
“The Canberra track is unreal,” Marmont said.“It’s probably one of the best tracks I’ve ridden in a long time and the club have put a lot of work into it. “For what used to be a junior club where we used to go and race as juniors, you wouldn’t think it’d have as much potential as what they’ve put into it.”
After taking to the track on the weekend Marmont was quick to praise the club for the excellent work they had done.
“They’ve put a bit of money into it and they’ve got a good watering system and some big jumps and it’s definitely a lot of fun to ride; kudos to the club, I definitely had a lot of fun,” he said. “They’ve definitely done a really good job with the track and it’s just going to make for some very exciting racing.”
With Australia’s best Motocross riders taking to this new world class track this is one event not to be missed.
